At the end of a turbulent year, our concert title could not be more poignant. Gerald Finzi’s magical Christmas song, In Terra Pax, for baritone, soprano and choir, combines the Nativity story with a poem by Robert Bridges. This lyrical song must be a contender for one of the most beautiful pieces of Christmas choral music.
And no Christmas concert would be complete without a variety of carols and seasonal music, traditional and contemporary. We have chosen a sparkling selection which is sure to delight our audience, and of course, there will be an opportunity to join in.
Our concert takes place in Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Square, one of the most artistically significant churches in the UK. A Grade I listed building, dubbed by Sir John Betjeman “the cathedral of the Arts & Crafts Movement”. Its magnificent stained glass includes a window by pre-Raphaelite artist Edward Burne-Jones and was the largest ever manufactured by Morris and Co.
