All choirs are facing challenging times at the moment, but we would like to reassure you that Lewisham Choral Society is very much alive and well, and that we have exciting plans for this season.
We extend a warm welcome to new joiners. We are a friendly and diverse choir, with members of all ages and backgrounds, so we know that you will feel at home with us, we look forward to the time when we can welcome you in person. In the meantime, please email our Membership Secretary, Andy McLeod, who will be happy to answer your questions: firstname.lastname@example.org.
All prospective members are very welcome to try us out on at least one of our three joining weeks at the beginning of term. Meanwhile, you can get a sense of the supportive style of our rehearsals from this interview with our Director of Music and a number of choir members.
Summer term begins on Monday 12th April, and our Membership Secretary Andy McLeod will give you the Zoom login details for these rehearsals.
If you would like to access a score to participate in a rehearsal during our joining weeks, which could help you decide if LCS is for you, our Membership Secretary will put you in contact with our Librarian. There will be a charge for scores, payable to LCS by BACS in advance. If you then decide to join us this will be taken into account when you pay your subscription. Once you have tried our rehearsals, if you then decide that LCS isn’t for you, you will be able to return the scores to us, and if in good condition we will reimburse.
We hope that once you have tried the choir out, you will be happy to join us. Subscriptions for the 2020/21 season are on a termly basis, as follows:
If you decide to join us, LCS members need to obtain scores for the works we are rehearsing leading up to our concerts. This is usually a purchase option, but for some scores we are able to secure a hire option which works out more cheaply. We will give you full details on joining, and once you have a members’ login to the website, you will find all the information about the music for each concert, as well as a wealth of useful learning resources.
